And, I have to admit that it will not displease me when they put #25 in the can. But A-Rod, how could you? Here is a guy that will, most likely, pass Bonds to take his place as baseball's HR king and he is just as dirty as Bonds!
I am a huge baseball fan (Just ask anyone who knows me, when I cut myself Braves red & blue comes out!). How about the Super Bowl? I have to say that it was one of the best games I can remember. I think Kurt Warner should be headed for Canton. The Steelers, incredible. The players union seems to think that there is collusion by the owners since poor Barry hasn't received offers to play for some deserving team. WELLLLL, maybe some of the teams don't want the PR nightmare, and headache's of a complete prima dona on their team. Isn't this AMERICA? Don't people have a right to choose who they hire? Who gives a crap if anyone doesn't want Barry Bonds?
It makes me sick to even hear the players union bring this up. What's next? Any other aging stars, hell average players, don't get picked up and the union will think that the owners are plotting against them? There are a list of players longer than the lines for "Iron Man", who don't get asked to play. Is Roger Clemens phone burning hot with offers? But because it's poor Mr. Bonds it must be people plotting against him. Boo-Hoo-Hoo-Hoo.
Some of the fans may shout prejudice! I am. Henry Aaron is still the all time home run champ. It wouldn't have mattered if Barry it 1,000 dingers. Maybe he sees A-Rod creeping up, or any # of younger guys who crank out home runs at an eye spinning pace. Hell, I still see Roger Maris as the single season holder. The entire era was tainted by "roids" and that includes Barry Bonds. Maybe if he wasn't such a mental some teams would try and pick him up. I mean when the Tampa Bay Rays don't want you...
Hopefully this will go away and we can keep focused on what has been a fun baseball season so far. Well, for most of you. I am a Braves fan.

NBA Rookie Of The Year

Well, I was watching ESPN this morning and they reported that Kevin Durant should be named the NBA's Rookie Of The Year. WHAT? C'mon, Durant. Now I must admit that he had a nice rookie campaign, but to me the real ROY should be Atlanta's Al Horford.
There will be some people who will tell you that I'm looking at this with orange & blue glasses. Yes, I wear the orange & blue with pride, but Horford has the stats to claim this years rookie prize.
Durant did put up 20.3 ppg. & he averaged about one more dish than #42, but look at Horford. Big Al put up 10.1 ppg, pulled down 9.7 boards, and fed teammates at a 1.5 clip. Plus he helped his team into the playoffs. The only place Durant is leading his team is to Oklahoma. Al Horford has also raised his game so far in the NBA's second season. His stats are, 12.8/9.7/1.5.
Yes, I'm sure some people will say that Kevin is the NBA's future, and he is marketed well by Upper Deck. But, Al Horford is a key piece THIS SEASON, for his team, and should be the Rookie Of The Year.
 I welcome your thoughts.

Surprise...NOT!

Well, now that the fun is over, who will be the 2nd pick in the draft? I think it BLOWS massive chunks that the Dolphins have already sewed up the "1st round pick". It takes the excitement out of this Saturday.
I know it's important to sign your pick in a timely manner (Note to Oakland), but come on. What's next? Have the 2nd-30th picks done by the Friday before? The reason I watch the draft (I don't know why, I'm a Redskins fan), is for the intrigue of who will be 1st, trades that day, and who doesn't go where expected (sorry Mr. Quinn). It's a downer for sure.

Tigers "miss" championship

We all know, ever since childhood, that your coach tells you one thing when it comes to the game of basketball. "Make your freethrows!" This was never more true than last night in the NCAA final. I sat there ready to crown Memphis the champs and then the wheel's fell off (or the ball off the rim.).
The fact that Memphis shot less than 60% from the charity stripe for the season and still made it to the finals is a testament to how good a team they are. Some will say that taking the point off the board made the difference, or that Dorsey fouling out gave up the Tigers inside game, but the alarming reality is the guy's in white's inability to make the ball fall in from 15 feet. I mean come on, no one is even gaurding you, except your brain.
I feel like I'm being too negative about foul shooting. But, like following your shot, it's a part of the game that really isn't focused on by players, coaches, or announcers. The dunk & 3-pointer, hell offense in general, are focused on too much. The truth is that practicing your free throws is not fun. It takes work and time. You have to work on your form and practice, practice, practice.
Now some of you who read this may think that I'm slamming Memphis. No, not at all. I was pulling for them. And the whole that's in my roof from where my head hit it as I blasted out of my seat when I watched miss after miss can be repaired. But the one thing that I think we can take away, especially for young guardians of the round ball, is that you should work on all aspects of your game. Maybe freethrows more than any part. Because as we saw last night, one shot from 15 feet can win you a championship.

What are your picks?

Now that we are on the verge of another wonderful baseball season, prediction's are on every "experts" lips. My question to you guys this week is, What are your predictions?
Being a Braves fan, I am also a realist and don't think the guys from "Hot"-lanta can win the division, but the wild card is a possibility. In the AL I think the Red Sox or Tigers will be in the World Series. I'm not sure about the NL.
Also, for those of you who see this before April 2nd. Who will stay and who will go? Spates is the one I keep hearing as an NBA 1st round pick. Really? What do you think?
Who, now, are you pulling for in the Tourney? After tossing one in from the parking lot, he totaled 50 points against the Knicks. James is incredible, and I'm a Laker FAN!! I'm not saying Kobe is my favorite player of all time (That Laker wore #44), but if anyone can claim this season's MVP it would be Bryant. James is just incredible.

Did Brett Favre die or retire?

Welcome to Home Court Sports on-line blog. Our email is homecourtsports@bellsouth.net.

Today I figure the excitement over Brett Favre's retirement is as good a place to start as any. After watching ESPN's coverage I would have thought #4 had died not hung them up. Favre is one of the greatest QB's of all time and deserve's a proper send off, but how much is too much?
When you're in Gainesville, Fl. please stop by our store and say hi.
